THORDON IN PUMPS

Where Thordon Works Inside a Pump

Thordon bearing systems can be integrated throughout the pump assembly, providing reliable lubrication-free performance in critical wear locations.

By eliminating conventional bearing materials and reducing dependence on oil or grease lubrication, Thordon helps improve reliability, reduce maintenance requirements, and extend equipment life.

Type of Thordon Pump Bearing Products

  • Stuffing Box Bearing
  • Line Shaft Bearing
  • Bowl Bearing
  • Suction Bell Bearing

Thordon In New & Existing Pumps

Thordon bearing systems are equally suited for integration into new pump designs as well as for upgrading existing pumps during overhaul, refurbishment, or retrofit. SEPL works closely with OEMs and end users to ensure correct bearing selection, fitment, and long-term performance across the pump lifecycle.

Thordon in new pumps (OEM Integration)

For new pump designs, Thordon enables engineers to move away from oil- or grease-lubricated bearing systems and adopt water-lubricated solutions with improved reliability and lower operating costs.

Key advantages:

  • Greater design flexibility for bearing arrangements
  • Optimised clearances for stable hydrodynamic performance
  • Lower friction and reduced shaft wear
  • Suction Bell BearingsElimination of oil lubrication systems and associated contamination risks
  • Longer service intervals and improved mean time between overhauls (MTBO)

Thordon in existing pumps (Retrofit & Conversion)

Thordon bearings can be introduced into existing pumps as a direct replacement for conventional rubber, phenolic, or bronze bearings, with minimal modification to the pump assembly.

Key advantages:

  • Retrofit-friendly replacement during routine maintenance or refurbishment
  • Minimal machining changes in most applications
  • Improved performance under contaminated water conditions
  • Capability to handle dry start-up events in suitable grades
  • Enhanced reliability and reduced unplanned downtime

SEPL’s role in new & existing pump projects

  • Application assessment and bearing grade recommendation
  • Dimensional verification and tolerance optimisation
  • Manufacturing / supply of Thordon bearings and mating components
  • On-site support for installation, alignment and commissioning

Why Thordon For Pumps

Different pump applications demand different bearing materials. Thordon's range of engineered polymer bearings allows designers and operators to optimise performance based on operating conditions, water quality, load requirements, and maintenance objectives.
